Reflexology and Diverticulitis

One of the best alternative treatment options for colon health and many other problems is reflexology. If you are unfamiliar with reflexology, it is simply the practice of strategically applying pressure to areas of the reflexes of feet and hands as they correspond with specific body organs. Just like the teeth, the feet and hands are a map to the health of our entire body. By stimulating nerves on specific areas of the feet and hands, we can stimulate blood flow and eliminate toxin buildup in the corresponding areas of the body. Furthermore, reflexology stimulates the lymphatic system and encourages the release of endorphins, the natural feel good hormones that are well documented in relieving the effects of stress.

Why?

75% of our health problems can be linked to stress. Reflexology is the unique method of using the thumb and finger on the reflex areas of hands, ears and feet to reduce nerve and stress tension, improve blood circulation, and help the body achieve balance. Therefore improving its natural ability to heal itself.
The human body is a delicately balanced machine with each individual part working together for the benefit of the whole. This balance, called homeostasis, is maintained thorough systems of glands, organs, nerves, and chemicals. If one of these components break down, the effect is felt throughout the body's system. The principles of reflexology embody the techniques designed to keep the body system operating at its peak efficiency.
Did you know that almost a quarter of all the bones in the entire human body are located in the feet? Each foot is composed of 26 bones and 7,200 nerve endings. These endings have extensive connections throughout the body, which correspond to all of the glands, organs, and parts of the body. Stimulating these reflexes properly can help many health problems, in a natural way.

 Expections of Treatment

Reflexology is a wonderfully relaxing experience where pressure is applied to the feet using a slow walking movement of the thumbs and forefingers, paying particular attention to specific reflex points. This is combined with special foot massage techniques to stimulate lymphatic drainage and circulation. The pressure varies according to individual comfort and it does not tickle the feet no matter how ticklish! After treatment, you will feel very relaxed and your feet will feel light and tingly as if walking on air. I also always advise drinking plenty of water to help your body flush out any toxins.
Treatments last for 1 hour following an initial consultation (for the first treatment only) which usually takes 5 minutes.
